Earlier today, Kendrick Lamar‘s latest studio album GNX quietly disappeared from multiple streaming platforms, leaving fans confused and the internet hyped up with theories about what’s going on.
Around 2 p.m. EST, Apple Music users started noticing the album was no longer available to stream. It didn’t stop there — GNX was also pulled from TIDAL and Amazon Music around the same time. As of writing, the album remains accessible on Spotify, so it’s not a complete blackout just yet.
Alongside the album, Kendrick’s fan-favorite diss track “euphoria” was also removed from Apple Music, TIDAL, and Amazon Music. Any existing links to either the album or the track are now returning error messages, which only adds to the mystery.
On the video side of things, the music video for “luther” — Kendrick’s collab with SZA — was deleted from his YouTube channel before being reuploaded shortly after. His record-breaking track “Not Like Us” went through the same process.
The reasons behind these removals haven’t been officially confirmed, but the timing is hard to ignore. Drake is set to drop his new project ICEMAN this Friday, and the overlap feels like more than a coincidence given everything that went down between the two artists over the past year.
Whether this is a strategic move, a licensing shuffle, or something else entirely, things are clearly in motion. For more updates on this and everything else happening in music and culture, stay tuned to VZN.
