Audemars Piguet and Swatch are teaming up on something called the “Royal Pop,” and the watch world is already paying attention. Details are still pretty scarce, but a release date has been confirmed and it’s worth keeping on your radar.
The collaboration feels like a natural meeting point between two very different ends of the watch spectrum. Audemars Piguet is one of the most iconic luxury watchmakers out there, you’ve probably heard rappers reference their AP or spotted the brand’s Royal Oak on someone’s wrist in a music video. Entry-level Royal Oak models start around $30,000, and prices can easily climb into six figures or beyond. It’s that kind of brand.
Swatch, on the other hand, has built its reputation over 40-plus years by making watches that are accessible, innovative, and genuinely cool without breaking the bank. In recent years, the brand has been linking up with high-end watchmakers, most notably through collaborations with Omega and Blancpain, both of which produced wristwatch releases that sold out fast and generated serious noise.
The “Royal Pop” name is a pretty clear nod to two things: the Royal Oak and Swatch’s classic Pop Swatch line. For context, Pop Swatch pieces are designed so the watch face can literally be popped out of the band and worn on a keychain, think of it as a modern take on the pocket watch. Whether the AP x Swatch collab leans into that format or comes through as a more traditional wristwatch is still unconfirmed, but either way it promises to be an interesting blend of luxury and everyday wearability.
The Audemars Piguet x Swatch Royal Pop is set to drop on May 16, 2026. Pricing and stockist details haven’t been announced yet. For more updates on this collab and everything else happening in culture and fashion, stay tuned to VZN.
