Jordan Brand is bringing back one of its most technically crafted releases ever. Both the White and Black colorways of the Air Jordan 4 “Laser,” originally dropped in 2005, are set to return in 2027, according to early reports from zSneakerHeadz and Sneaker Files.
The “Laser” AJ4s have always been about more than just looks. Designer Mark Smith used laser-engraving technology to etch detailed patterns across both uppers, a technique that genuinely changed how Nike thought about shoe manufacturing at the time. That same innovation quietly spread across the Jumpman catalog throughout the early 2000s, but the AJ4 is where it truly left its mark on sneaker culture.
The White colorway carries that classic Fire Red energy — bold and immediately recognizable — while the Black version goes darker with a more textured feel across the upper. Chicago Bulls colors run through both pairs, grounding the duo in their original legacy. Premium leather is expected across both, keeping in line with the craftsmanship updates the brand has been applying to recent retros.
On the branding side, the original 2005 pairs featured the Jumpman on the heel rather than Nike Air, a small detail that said a lot about where Jordan Brand was positioning itself at the time. Given that Nike Air branding has made a strong comeback on recent retros, the 2027 versions will likely make the switch to differentiate them from the originals.
Per House of Heat, the pack is set to release as a “super-limited” $500 two-pack — the first time Jordan Brand has ever packaged two different AJ4 colorways together in a single box. To make it even more of a moment, the set is expected to come in an updated Michael Jordan face box, nodding to the graphic packaging that appeared on various retro Jordan releases in the early 2000s.
Both the Air Jordan 4 “White Laser” (IR2070-100) and “Black Laser” (IR2070-001) are priced at $500 USD as a two-pack, with a release date of February 1, 2027, on SNKRS and at select retailers.
