adidas Originals and Avavav are returning for Spring Summer 2026 with a collection that takes their shared obsession with distortion and proportion even further. Creative director Beate Skonare Karlsson is back at the helm, pulling apart classic sportswear references and rebuilding them into something that sits somewhere between athletic and sculptural.
The collection opens with a cropped track top and matching track pant that have been reshaped into something more theatrical than functional. A skintight base layer mimics the look of a track top, extending a visual trick that has appeared in earlier Avavav x Adidas drops. From there, Karlsson moves through different expressions of femininity — a hooded mini dress, a shoulderless hoodie, and a T-shirt paired with denim pants all pull sportswear into more body-conscious, silhouette-driven territory. Printed shorts round out the apparel side by playing with surface design and placement in ways that challenge what sportswear is supposed to look like.
Accessories stay consistent with the collaboration’s identity. Long socks, a sweatband set, and a double brim slashed cap all make the cut. The sculpted leather sports bag returns too, and this time it arrives in its largest version yet — a nod to one of the partnership’s most recurring design threads.
Footwear might be where the collection speaks loudest. The Avavav Megaride comes back in a stripped-back form, now available in canvas and suede with windowed mesh uppers that create an anatomical, caged effect — one of the label’s most recognizable visual details. The Modified Superstar returns in two new versions: the Deconstructed Superstar, which uses a soft collapsible leather upper to loosen the classic shell-toe shape, and the Shaved Pony Superstar, which introduces a faux pony-hair texture for something more tactile and unexpected.
The campaign was shot by Belgian photographer Lennert Madou, a longtime Avavav collaborator known for his off-center compositions and painterly approach. His still life framing matches the collection’s balance of precision and deliberate awkwardness.
The Spring Summer 2026 Adidas Originals by Avavav collection drops globally on May 22, available through CONFIRMED, the Adidas website, Adidas stores, and select retailers. For more updates on the latest in fashion and culture, stay tuned to VZN.
