Diesel has just announced that Andrea Rigogliosi will take over as CEO, filling a role that’s been vacant for over two years. Previously the global head of retail and commercial at Miu Miu, Rigogliosi is set to bring fresh energy to Diesel. Renzo Rosso, chairman of OTB Group, which owns Diesel, expressed his excitement about this new chapter, highlighting Glenn Martens‘ impact on the brand’s fresh, contemporary vibe that resonates with younger audiences.
Rosso has personally overseen Diesel since the departure of the previous CEO, Eraldo Poletto, who left in February 2023. Poletto replaced Massimo Piombini, who held the position from 2020 to 2023. Rigogliosi’s experience includes roles at Fendi, Dior, and L’Oréal Luxe, setting him up to steer Diesel during this transformative period.
The timing is critical for OTB Group. Besides Diesel, they also own Jil Sander, Maison Margiela, Marni, and Viktor & Rolf. Despite challenges, Diesel has seen a 3.2% revenue increase, thanks to its repositioning strategy initiated in 2020. This revamp aimed to capture a diverse, especially Gen Z, audience. A standout moment was Diesel’s 2026 Spring/Summer collection “egg hunt” during Milan Fashion Week, creating noise and engagement.
As Diesel moves forward, Rigogliosi’s leadership promises to further enhance the brand’s momentum. For more updates on Diesel and other cultural happenings, stay tuned to VZN.
