Amazon is shaking things up with a new Fire TV redesign, spotlighting content while making the interface easier to navigate. This marks a significant update since the last major release, featuring a fresh Fire TV app and sleek premium TVs with colorful frames, making streaming more intuitive than ever.
Given the explosion of streaming content, Amazon felt it was time for a revamp. Fire TV users have access to an array of options including movies, TV shows, live content, music, games, and more. However, the old interface was becoming cluttered, which led to a design overhaul aimed at simplifying the user experience.
The new user interface includes rounded corners, consistent typography, and more space between items. These changes make navigation less daunting and more streamlined. Users can now pin up to 20 apps on the home screen, a significant increase from the previous six. There are clear categories for Movies, TV, Live TV, Sports, and News, along with improved search capabilities.
In addition, the new live TV tab organizes live stream services, while the sports section provides information on current and scheduled games. Other features, like games and music, are easily accessible through a redesigned menu.
The updated Fire TV also benefits from faster, rewritten code, which improves speed on popular devices by 20-30%. A built-in AI assistant, Alexa+, allows users to refine searches by speaking naturally. The AI works with a Prime subscription or as a separate service. The redesigned Fire TV app offers a new way to discover content, making it possible to browse on your phone for a seamless viewing experience.
Rolling out in February, the redesign will first hit U.S. devices like the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus. It will then expand to more countries and devices in the spring, including the Fire TV Cube and TVs from partners like Hisense and TCL.
Accompanying this update is the new Ember Artline series. These TVs, available in 55-inch and 65-inch, start at $899 and boast a slick, art-like design. With 4K QLED screens, they feature Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Wi-Fi 6. The highlight is the customizable frames in options such as Walnut, Ash, and Matte White, making these TVs a stylish addition to any room.
For those interested in ambient features, you have access to over 2,000 free art pieces, or you can display your own photos via commands with Alexa+.
The refreshed Fire TV experience and new Ember Artline TVs aim to enhance how users interact with their content, combining style with function. For more updates, stay tuned to VZN.
