Nicki Minaj’s former manager, Brandon Garrett, has reportedly taken legal action against the acclaimed rapper, accusing her of assault, battery, and emotional distress. The claims, emphasized in a report by TMZ, detail an incident during her tour in Detroit, April 2024, where tensions allegedly reached a boiling point.
Garrett accuses Minaj of slapping him in the face, causing his head to jerk backward and dislodging his hat, after he delegated a task to pick up her prescription. The incident reportedly unfolded in her dressing room, where Minaj, known for her fierce persona, is alleged to have screamed accusations at Garrett, questioning his choices and threatening his career. Among the heated words, she purportedly declared, “Are you fcking crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your fcking mind.” Things escalated as she allegedly said that her husband would have intervened physically had he been present.
The drama doesn’t end there. Garrett claims he was swarmed by Minaj’s security and later struck on the wrist, causing him to drop documents. Isolated and worried, he sought refuge in a restroom at Little Caesars Arena, contacting his fiancée to recount his ordeal. It’s said he stayed in hiding for several hours, citing fear for his safety, reportedly suffering from a sore face and a throbbing wrist afterward.
Furthermore, Garrett accuses Minaj’s crew of leaving him stranded without access to the tour bus headed back to Chicago, ultimately pressing for damages in his lawsuit. In response, Minaj’s attorney, Judd Burstein, countered these claims, stating, “No complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty, and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations.” Burstein remains confident the accusations are baseless and anticipates a swift resolution favoring Minaj.
