Stüssy is gearing up to make a notable entry into New York City’s Nolita neighborhood with the launch of a permanent flagship store. This announcement, highlighted by Business of Fashion comes after the remarkable success of their pop-up archive store back in May. Set to occupy a spacious 5,600 square-foot location at 50 Prince Street, this new retail space was previously home to McNally Jackson bookstore, according to recently secured permits.
Previously, the brand had to close its former SoHo location at 176 Spring Street at the end of last year, which was quite a shift for their New York presence. This space has since been transformed into the Denim Tears storefront, curated by Tremaine Emory. The new flagship store signifies a strategic move for Stüssy, bringing it closer to other prominent streetwear brands in the city, such as Aime Leon Dore, Kith, and Noah. It’s a part of Stüssy’s efforts to expand their global footprint, marking their third store launch this year following new openings in Chengdu and Milan.
Originating in 1984, the iconic Southern California streetwear label first made waves in New York City in 1991, opening its first store in the fashion-forward city. This four-decade-old brand continues to be a key player in the streetwear scene with dynamic moves like this new Nolita store.
While exact dates for the official opening have not yet been revealed, those interested in Stüssy’s latest venture can watch VZN for upcoming details about this brand-new Manhattan flagship location.
