Earlier this year, Bricks & Wood set the sneaker world hype with the announcement of three new collaborations with New Balance. Scheduled for release between October 2024 and February 2025, the first reveal is the Bricks & Wood x New Balance 1906U. This collaboration was introduced by Dani Barraza, the COO and shoe designer for Bricks & Wood, who unveiled its unique and striking design.
The Bricks & Wood x New Balance 1906U, named “Echoes of a Butterfly,” stands out with its black base interspersed with flashes of fuchsia, yellow, and green, inspired by the vibrant Madagascan sunset moth, known as Chrysiridia rhipheus. Often mistaken for a butterfly, this stunning moth’s vibrant colors and daytime activity capture the essence of this collaboration. Drawing on this natural marvel, the 1906U pays homage to the vibrant scales that adorn the moth’s wings, bringing a fresh and innovative look to sneaker fashion.
This release marks the third collaboration between Bricks & Wood and New Balance. Previously, the two brands joined forces for the 57/40 project in 2021 and the 9060 “Nothing Changed But The Address” in 2023. The latter drew inspiration from Bricks & Wood founder Kacy Lynch’s grandmother’s home, adding a deeply personal touch to the collection that resonated with many.
The first glimpse of the Bricks & Wood x New Balance 1906U indicates a compelling blend of design and story, underlying the commitment to creativity and cultural commentary both brands champion. The sneaker is set to hit Space(s) by Bricks & Wood in Los Angeles on October 12, 2024, followed by a global release on October 18, 2024.
