Balenciaga has introduced a fresh basketball-inspired sneaker model at Paris Fashion Week, showcased as part of its Summer 2025 collection. This new design, known as the “Basketball Sneaker,” was revealed during Demna’s latest fashion show. The shoe features a distinct molded upper with exaggerated shapes and proportions, reminiscent of Nike’s Foamposite and Flightposite designs from the late ’90s. The sneaker comes in various metallic color options, paying tribute to classic Foamposite colorways such as “Copper” and “Metallic Red.” Additionally, there is a white variant with noticeable scuffing on the toe, giving it a pre-worn appearance.
Interestingly, the Nike models that inspired Balenciaga’s new Basketball Sneaker are making their way back to the market. Various Foamposite One colorways are scheduled for release according to Nike’s calendar for 2024 and 2025. The Flightposite is also set to return in the holiday season, and even the unique Clogposite—a clog variant featuring the same molded polyurethane construction—is making a comeback.
The Balenciaga Summer 2025 Basketball Sneaker is now available for pre-order, with an official launch planned for Summer 2025. Interested buyers can shop for the sneaker on the Balenciaga website, at Balenciaga stores, and select retailers such as SSENSE.
