On Monday morning, JJJJound revealed its latest collaboration with ASICS, marking nearly three years since their partnership first brought a unique twist to the Japanese brand’s GEL-Kayano 14s in 2022. In an Instagram post captioned “JJJJ ASICS FW24,” two new versions of the GT-2160 were highlighted, showcasing chrome-dressed, black-and-white colorways.
True to the Montreal-based studio’s understated aesthetic, the standout features of this collaboration are found in the details. The sneakers feature small carbon fiber overlays extending from the heel to the toe caps, adding a premium touch. The wide gauge mesh uppers add depth and texture to the overall design, enhancing the footwear’s visual appeal.
The lighter colorway combines a titanium white upper with silver and black overlays, accented with neon word marks on the tongue cushion and heel. The other colorway maintains an all-black appearance, with silver outlines along the overlays, typefaces, and laces, giving the design a subtle yet impactful effect.
The new JJJJound x ASICS GT-2160 model offers a contemporary look compared to the previously released GEL-Kayano 14, which featured retro elements like chunky details and off-white soles. These GT-2160 sneakers sport a sleeker shape, highlighted by vertical lines molded into the midsoles. The GT-2160 has been a focus for ASICS, with recent collaborations including partners like Above the Clouds, Carnival, and Kiko Kostadinov.
Specific details about pricing and availability haven’t been disclosed yet, but the “FW24” caption suggests that these new JJJJound GT-2160 sneakers will be arriving this season. For more updates on the release, keep an eye on VZN.
