Future’s latest release, Mixtape Pluto, has made waves on the charts, securing his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 this year. Just ten days post-release, the album has already sold 129,000 equivalent album units, marking it as a chart milestone according to Billboard. This latest achievement adds to Future’s already impressive tally, bringing him to eleven No. 1 albums throughout his career.
Mixtape Pluto was announced just one week before its launch, showcasing Future’s ability to generate excitement quickly. Earlier in the year, he also secured No. 1 spots with We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You, both collaborative efforts with Metro Boomin. While the tracks from the new album have not been extensively promoted, they have garnered impressive streaming numbers, racking up over 156.62 million streams.
Interestingly, the last artist to achieve three No. 1 albums in a mere six-month span prior to Future was the Glee cast, thanks to their successful soundtracks. Discounting Glee’s success, only The Beatles have matched this record. With this latest achievement, Future is now tied with icons like Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, and Ye (formerly Ye) for the fifth-most No. 1s on the Billboard 200, a feat that dates back to March 1956. The only artists with more No. 1 albums are The Beatles, JAY-Z, Taylor Swift, and Drake.
Mixtape Pluto continues to solidify Future’s position in the music industry, showcasing his talent and drawing listeners into his evolving sound. It is clear that the future remains bright for this prolific artist.
