Apple has recently introduced its iPhone 16 series, and while the exterior might seem similar to its recent predecessors at first glance, the company is heavily focusing on the internal features of the device, specifically its camera. To showcase the impressive capabilities of the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s camera, Apple collaborated with Kathy Ryan to curate an exhibition titled “Chasing the Light.”
Kathy Ryan selected three esteemed artists—Prince Gyasi, Ryan McGinley, and Chen Man—to participate in this special exhibition. The event spanned multiple cities, with exhibits held in New York, London, and Shanghai last week. This exhibition is particularly noteworthy for Kathy Ryan, as it marks her return to public work after retiring from her illustrious career, which included 39 years at The New York Times, where she was the director of photography for 37 years.
“Chasing the Light” revolves around the theme of sunlight, shadow, and color, and features both still images and motion graphics. The uniqueness of this collection lies in the fact that all the work showcased was captured using the iPhone 16’s camera. According to Apple, none of the imagery was post-processed; what you see is purely the artists’ original work directly from the camera.
This exhibition not only highlights the advanced technology behind the iPhone 16 series but also underscores the artistic potential and creativity that can be achieved using modern smartphones.
